Day one of session 2 was a blast! Descendants is going to be a spectacular show and its one of our favorites. Today was particularly special because we welcomed a record breaking number of campers to the stage. We’ve got plenty of familiar faces around camp and we are thrilled to see so many new additions to the CCC family!
We started our day off by meeting the staff during stage time. We also covered the basics like safety protocol, water stations, classes, and groups. Afterward we took to the stage and began listening to some of our favorite tunes from Descendants!
“Break This Down”
One song that filled the halls was “Break This Down.” Our talented young performers sang this song for auditions and we continued to learn this song in music and dance class. It was great to see so many first-timers audition on stage. With so much talent on and off the stage, it’ll be tough to cast this show, but by tomorrow Descendants will be in full swing!
Faith in Action
With so many campers this session we thought we’d add a new special class! Starting today we’ll be working on a bagged lunch service project with a special partner in the community. At CCC we believe that service is the key to putting our faith into action, so it warms our hearts to see so many campers enthusiastic about the project! More details coming soon!
Best First Day Ever!
Our other classes went by in a flash. At art class we got to make our own octopi just like Uma from the Descendants. Over at faith formation we ran through chapel etiquette and prayers like genuflecting, the sign of the cross, holy water, and kneeling. There was also a Q&A portion so we could get an idea of what the campers would like to discuss this summer. Finally outside at games we got to play a camp favorite: Hunger Games Dodgeball. The campers loved it and we’ll definitely be bringing it back in the future.
