Our Seussical adventure has officially begun! We were so excited to welcome campers for another fun-filled 2 weeks of singing, dancing, acting, creativity, and faith. From the moment campers arrived, the excitement was contagious as they met new friends, reunited with familiar faces, and jumped right into all the fun that makes CCC Shines so special.
A Wonderful First Day!
One of the biggest moments of the day was auditions! Campers bravely stepped onto the stage to showcase their talents and give their very best performances. We are so proud of everyone who auditioned and showed confidence by sharing their gifts with others.
In Music Class, campers began learning “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think,” kicking off the musical with lots of energy and excitement.
Over in Dance Class, campers learned choreography for “Biggest Blame Fool” and “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think.” There were plenty of smiles as everyone began bringing the colorful world of Seussical to life through movement.
Creative Fun
In Art Class, campers created adorable yellow Spot puppets inspired by Put Me in the Zoo and decorated them with colorful Pop-It-style polka dots. Their creative masterpieces were as bright and unique as the stories of Dr. Seuss!
Growing in Faith
Campers spent time in Faith Formation touring the chapel and learning about the Beatitudes. Through discussion and reflection, they discovered how Jesus calls us to live lives filled with kindness, compassion, humility, and love for others.
Game Time!
Campers stayed active during Games with exciting games for every age group. Our younger campers enjoyed Sharks and Minnows, while our older campers competed in an exciting game of Knockout. It was a great way to stay active, build teamwork, and make new friends.
Counselor Corner
We asked our counselors:
“Why do you love being a camp counselor for CCC Shines, and what is something you love about your campers?”
Mr. Colton: “As a former actor at CCC, I enjoy watching my love of theatre from the other side of things as a counselor. I enjoy watching the kids have fun on and off the stage and just having so much joy in all they do.”
Mr. Brayden: “As a camper, I always wanted to become a counselor here at CCC. Being a counselor here fills a part of my heart that can’t be filled in any other way. I love watching the kids make new connections with their fellow campers along with their counselors.”
Let’s Hear From Our Campers!
Today we asked our campers:
“Who is your favorite Dr. Seuss character?”
Here are some of their answers:
- Tucker T.: The dogs from Go, Dog. Go!
- Sophia S.: Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat
- Logan M.: Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat

What a fantastic start to our Seussical session! We are so proud of our campers for their enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to try new things on day one. We can’t wait to watch them continue to grow as performers, friends, and disciples throughout the week.
