Our second day of Seussical camp was filled with excitement as campers continued preparing for the show while making new friendships and growing together. From rehearsing music and dance to creating a special CCC Shines tradition, every part of the day was packed with fun and learning!

Bringing Seussical Jr to Life
Campers continued making great progress in both Music and Dance as they rehearsed “Biggest Blame Fool” and “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think.” With every practice, campers are becoming more confident as they learn the songs and choreography that will help bring the colorful world of Dr. Seuss to the stage.
In Acting Class, campers played Poison Dart Frog, a fast-paced theater game that encouraged quick thinking, focus, and teamwork. Through games like these, campers continue building important acting skills while having lots of fun with their fellow cast members.

Creative Camp Fun
In Art Class, campers decorated their Kiss Bags, one of our favorite CCC Shines traditions! These bags will be filled with kind notes and some good treats from our audiences next week.

Growing in Faith
During Faith Formation, campers listened to a story about the Beatitudes and reflected on how Jesus calls us to live with kindness, mercy, humility, and love for others. These lessons help remind us that we can shine God’s light both on and off the stage.

Games Galore!
Campers enjoyed an exciting game of Capture the Flag, where teamwork, strategy, and encouragement were on full display. Whether they were racing across the field or cheering on their teammates, everyone had a fantastic time staying active and making memories together.

Counselor Corner
We asked our counselors:
“Why do you love being a camp counselor for CCC Shines, and what is something you love about your campers?”
Ella: “I like being a camp counselor because meeting all the new kids each session is so fun. I enjoy when the campers show how much fun they are having when dancing and singing on stage.”
Dyllan: “After being away from CCC for almost a year, I loved getting the chance to come back to such an amazing community. I love getting to interact with the campers and seeing them grow as performers and people.”

Let’s Hear From Our Campers!
Today we asked our campers:
“What candy do you really want to see in your Kiss Bag?”
Here are some sweet answers:
- Patrick H.: Gum
- Caroline E.: Sour Patch Kids
- Lena C.: Hershey’s Kisses
We can’t wait to see all the thoughtful notes and treats that fill our campers’ Kiss Bags come show days!

Mentorship Lunch & Learn
This summer we’ve been so delighted to offer a new program for our high school and college staff through our Summer Mentorship Program. Through this program, staff members have been working on setting individual goals for the summer, shadowing staff, trying new things, taking leaps of faith and more! We’re so proud of all they’ve accomplished in this inaugural program for our staff. As a part of this program, we are offering two lunch & learn events as a culmination of the end of the program for those in the program and those who are interested on our team. Today we help our first event which welcomed three amazing professionals who were able to share their stories, advice and wisdom to our staff. We loved the opportunity to learn from this dynamic group and be motivated by their experienced and professional journeys. Thank you to Jaret Criss (Hartford Funds), Melissa Lapp-Lobasso (Comcast, Work.Life.Motherhood) & Carly Spross (Flashlight Marketing). We are so grateful for your time!
Next week will bring another wonderful group of leaders to help us wrap up the first season of our mentorship program. Check back to hear all about it!
