There was no shortage of laughter, creativity, and colorful outfits at camp today as we celebrated our first theme day of the summer: Wacky Wednesday! Campers arrived in car line dressed in their silliest and most creative attire, ready for a day full of fun. From mismatched socks and crazy hats to bright colors and unique combinations, the camp spirit was on full display from the moment everyone arrived.
To kick off the festivities, our staff members took center stage for a special Wacky Wednesday Fashion Show! Counselors and staff proudly showed off their outrageous outfits while campers cheered, laughed, and voted for their favorites. Team #3 of the Counselors took home the win! They also won our musical chairs competition yesterday so they are in the lead for our staff challenge! It was the perfect way to start a day focused on creativity, confidence, and having fun together.
Creative Characters in Art Class
The imagination continued to shine in Art Class as campers designed their very own Wacky Wednesday characters. Using colorful materials and plenty of creativity, campers brought silly personalities to life through wild hairstyles, funny expressions, and over-the-top outfits. No two creations were alike, and each camper added their own special flair to their masterpiece.
Music Class: Smiles, Songs, and Storytelling

In Music Class, campers continued preparing for next week’s performances by focusing on “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” and “Tomorrow Reprise.” The theater was filled with energy as campers practiced lyrics, worked on musical expression, and learned how their songs help tell Annie’s story.
Meanwhile, some of our lead and featured orphans had the opportunity to begin working on “It’s the Hard Knock Life” with Ms. Gina. All Campers are growing more confident with each class and rehearsal block and it has been exciting to watch them take ownership of their roles while supporting one another along the way.
Dance Class: Bringing the Numbers to Life

Campers were moving and grooving throughout Dance Class today as Miss Mary Kate and Miss Phoebe introduced choreography for “Tomorrow Reprise” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.” After learning new steps, campers reviewed all of the dances they’ve learned so far this week, helping build confidence and prepare for next week’s performances.
Each rehearsal brings the show one step closer to the stage, and campers are doing a wonderful job remembering choreography while adding their own personality and excitement to every number.
Acting Class: Finding Their Voices

In Acting Class, campers focused on an important performance skill: diction. Through games, exercises, and scene work, campers learned why speaking clearly is essential so every audience member can hear and understand the story being told on stage. We talked about how this skill transfers to growing in their own development as they grow up. By learning how to have strong diction, campers of all ages grow skills that benefit them on and off the stage today and into the future.
As campers continue to develop their acting skills, they are learning that great performers don’t just memorize lines. They communicate with confidence, expression, and purpose.
Outdoor Games and Camp Favorites

With beautiful weather on our side, campers were excited to head outdoors for Games with Mr. Babcock. The parachute made another appearance and quickly became the center of lots of laughter and teamwork. Campers also enjoyed one of camp’s favorite games, “What Time Is It, Mr. Fox?”
Whether running, laughing, or cheering on friends, campers enjoyed the opportunity to spend time outside making memories together.
Learning About God’s Creation

Faith Formation with Mrs. Crowley continued our exploration of God’s gift of creation. Each age group learned in a way that matched their developmental level while reflecting on the beauty of the world God has entrusted to us.
Our youngest campers created colorful creation-themed headbands, our middle group worked together to sequence the seven days of creation, and our oldest campers discussed practical ways they can be good stewards of God’s creation through their words, actions, and choices.
It was another meaningful opportunity for campers to connect their faith to everyday life while recognizing the many blessings that surround them.
Counselor Corner

Miss Mary Kate: “I love being a part of the staff at CCC Shines, especially in the summer because the energy is unmatched! I love seeing all the children I teach shine on stage with genuine joy and confidence.”
Mikey:“I love spending time with the kids and volunteering because I get to hang out with them throughout the day. I love that every group has a funny nickname for me and that they get excited when I come into the room.”
As we wrapped up another wonderful day at camp, one thing was clear: whether through silly outfits, creative projects, faith-filled lessons, or musical theater fun, our campers continue to remind us that confidence grows when you aren’t afraid to be yourself. We can’t wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings at CCC Shines!
