Another great day here at CCC Shines for the books! Our campers stayed busy learning, creating, and preparing for our upcoming performances. From music and dance to faith formation and acting, campers continued to grow in confidence while making lasting memories with friends.
A Fun-Filled Morning
We kicked off the day with our morning staff challenge! Each staff team nominated a Pre-K or Kindergarten camper to represent them in a friendly race up and down the aisle. The campers gave it their all, and everyone cheered them on with lots of excitement and encouragement. It was a great way to start the day with smiles and team spirit!
Performing Arts in Action
In music class, campers reviewed all of the songs they have been working so hard on. They also enjoyed a fun game of Mad Libs that brought plenty of laughter to the classroom.
In dance class, campers continued to learn choreography to “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” and “Tomorrow Reprise.”
Our acting classes focused on character development. Campers explored how their characters walk and move, helping them better understand who their characters are. They also continued stepping into their characters’ bodies and personalities as blocking for the show got underway.
Creative Creations
In art class, campers created adorable sandy dog puppets. They let their imaginations run wild when making these puppets.
Behind the scenes, our talented set team has been hard at work! Our beautiful set is beginning to take shape as team members start creating props and scenery for the show. We can’t wait to see everything come together on stage.
Shining God’s Light
Faith Formation looked a little different for each age group today as campers continued learning about God’s creation and how we can care for the world He has given us.
- Our younger campers enjoyed a read-aloud and played a fun game of Doggy Doggy, Where’s Your Bone?
- Our middle campers completed their Creation Story picture sort activity.
- Our older campers tested their knowledge with a lively game of Trashketball featuring Bible trivia from the Old Testament.
Rainy Day Fun
Because of the rainy weather in the morning, Games moved indoors for part of the day. Campers enjoyed several rounds of four corners, but in the afternoon games was back outside with games like Detective Frog and Hunger Games.
Counselor Corner
Our counselors help make camp a welcoming, encouraging, and fun place to be. This week, we asked them:
Why do you love being a camp counselor for CCC Shines, and what is something you love that your campers do?
Annastasia: “I love the community and everyone’s energy. I love how the kids can do so many different activities and get a sense of accomplishment from creating a show. I love that they are always excited to come to acting and willing to play games.”
Zoe: “I love how eager all the kids are to learn different types of acting, and I like how camp gives them time to run around and be kids. I love when they come up to me and tell me how much they like the class because of how much they are learning.”

Looking Ahead
As choreography, music, acting, and set construction continue to come together, our campers are getting more excited every day for the performance ahead. We are so proud of their hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to try new things.
