Today was all about sunshine, smiles, and island vibes as campers celebrated our “Summer State of Mind” theme day! Dressed in their favorite summer outfits, campers brought lots of colorful energy to camp while continuing to prepare for our production of Moana. Between rehearsals, creative projects, games, and faith formation, it was another fantastic day at CCC Shines!
Bringing Moana to Life
Our campers continued making great progress in the performing arts!
In Music Class, campers learned “Tulou Tagaloa” and “We Know the Way (Final).” We were also excited to welcome back Mr. Jacob, who joined campers for another fun day of music and singing!
In Dance Class, campers worked on choreography for “We Know the Way” and “Shiny.” Their confidence continues to grow as they learn new dances and prepare to take the stage.
During Acting Class, campers learned how actors can tell a story without depending on props. Through movement and character choices, they explored how body language and expression can help bring a scene to life and make their performances even stronger.
Creative Camp Fun
In Art Class, campers created colorful Tamatoa crafts complete with his shiny shell! Inspired by everyone’s favorite glitter loving crab, campers had fun using their creativity to make bright and eye catching artwork.
Growing in Faith
In Faith Formation, campers took time to pray for their special intentions. Together, they reflected on the importance of bringing their prayers to God and lifting up the needs of their families, friends, and community.
Games Galore!
Campers stayed active with a variety of exciting games throughout the day, including a Hula Hoop Relay, Duck Duck Goose, and What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? There was plenty of laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition as everyone enjoyed spending time together outdoors.
Counselor Corner
We asked our counselors:
“Why do you love being a camp counselor for CCC Shines, and what is something you love that your campers do?”
Ms. Frannie: “I love being a camp counselor because it gives me an opportunity to teach kids about what I love to do, and I get to use my creativity to help the show come to life. I love seeing the kids in the morning and coloring with them during before care.”
Ms. Phoebe: “I love being a camp counselor because it teaches me new ways to engage with campers, and I get to teach them new ways to dance! I love seeing the kids finally getting the dances and shining bright on the stage.”
