There is something so exciting about the first few days of a new production, and our Seussical Jr. campers wasted no time jumping into the adventure!
From the moment they arrived, campers were singing, dancing, acting, creating, and making new friendships as they began bringing the colorful world of Dr. Seuss to life. Every corner of camp was filled with imagination, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.

Seuss is Coming to Life
Campers enthusiastically dove into rehearsing the songs and choreography that will soon light up the stage. As everyone learned the show’s exciting musical numbers, our performers began discovering their characters and growing more confident with every rehearsal.
Some of our featured groups also spent focused time perfecting their scenes. The Wickersham Brothers and the Bird Girls worked on their small-group choreography, learning how collaboration, timing, and storytelling help every performer shine.
Meanwhile, Miss Emma worked with several cast members to begin blocking scenes from Horton Hears a Who!, introducing audiences to the story’s unlikely hero. The Bird Girls, JoJo, and the Cat in the Hat helped launch the adventure in true Seussical fashion.
Our 5th grade cast also learned the dance and blocking for “Here on Who,” while our 6th graders began developing their Who characters. It was wonderful to watch them fully embrace their roles, ask thoughtful questions about characterization, and bring creativity to every rehearsal.

Behind the Scenes
While performers rehearsed on stage, another group of campers and staff worked behind the scenes to create the colorful world of Seussical.
The first pieces of our set began taking shape as everyone picked up paintbrushes and started transforming simple materials into vibrant scenery. Every production is a team effort, and it’s exciting to watch both performers and crew help create the magic together.
In Art Class, our talented campers made their truffula trees in the spirit of Seuss! We loved seeing the creative work of all campers both on and off the stage!

Acts of Service at CCC Shines
One of our favorite parts of each camp day is taking time to connect our faith with meaningful acts of service. This week, campers focused on the Spiritual Work of Mercy: Comforting the Afflicted.
Our youngest campers decorated colorful, encouraging bookmarks while our older campers thoughtfully wrote postcards filled with messages of hope and kindness. Together, these special creations will be delivered to children staying at a local children’s hospital, reminding them that they are loved, remembered, and prayed for.
Watching campers use their creativity to brighten someone else’s day is a beautiful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

Teamwork On and Off the Stage
Camp isn’t complete without plenty of outdoor fun! Our older campers enjoyed an exciting game of Capture the Flag with a soccer twist! The creative variation challenged teams to communicate, strategize, and work together while keeping everyone moving.
Meanwhile, our younger campers had a blast playing Cops and Robbers, laughing, running, and building friendships through cooperative play.
Whether on stage or on the field, teamwork continues to be one of the greatest lessons our campers learn each day.
